BinderCon is a professional development conference for women and gender variant writers. Held on the beautiful UCLA campus, BinderCon brings together 450 creative writers, journalists, freelancers, and film and TV writers each spring. We will reveal our full programming lineup in January 2017. If you’ve never been to BinderCon before, here’s a taste of what to expect, based on our past events:
Content: keynote conversations between powerful, award-winning authors, writers, producers, and executives, such as Jill Abramson, Elif Batuman, Effie Brown, Leslie Jamison, Porochista Khakpour, Suki Kim, Lisa Kudrow, Jillian Lauren, Adrian Nicole LeBlanc, Anna Quindlen, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Keri Putnam, Claudia Rankine, Rebecca Walker, and Lizz Winstead.
Community: networking lunch to meet other writers in your field; speed pitching with literary agents, magazine editors, and industry professionals; Sunday happy hour to mingle with all conference attendees; option to purchase a VIP ticket to attend Saturday party with speakers and other special guests
Career development: workshops on pitching and making a living as a freelancer; panels and workshops on breaking into the writers’ room, writing a TV pilot, and writing genre for screen; intersectional and cross-disciplinary panel discussions on writing cultural identity, motherhood, disability, and queer identity
